You know that feeling when you’ve just realized that you threw out the wrong bag in the trash…the bag that had your lunch. There’s only one word that accurately & completely expresses how I feel. That word, famously coined by Homer Simpson, is so simple and yet so fitting. D’oh!
I know it’s probably wishful thinking, but here’s hoping that someone or something in need of food is able to enjoy my lunch today.
I had a Shrove Tuesday dinner (a.k.a. Fat Tuesday) w/ some friends earlier tonight. I’m not Catholic, but I do think I could stand to practice and understand more about sacrifice. And in fact many different faiths practice self-denial throughout the year. Each of us at dinner decided we would voluntarily give up something that really made us think, “oh man, this is gonna be tough.”
For M it was alcohol, for C it was shopping, and for me…I gave up twitter & fb. People that know me, know it certainly wasn’t an easy decision, especially since I work in media. But I figured this is what it’s all about. So I’ve officially taken the twitter & facebook apps off of my iPhone. Granted I’m not giving up Social Media entirely, but those two are definitely the ones that I use the most. So here goes…
